In the network-based DNC systems and especially heterogeneous DNC systems data get more distributed due to the ability to store not only in the DNC Server but also in the CNC controller or CNC Terminal. This leads a challenge to the DNC software in the implementation of its basic functions. The agent-based DNC software with assistants (ADNC) is suggested to solve the above problem. Its tasks are to collect distributed NC information and transfer data safely as well as performing other extended functions, i.e. NC program generation, machine data collection, production data collection, control machines in system, etc. The present work presented the concept to develop the ADNC and its first prototype. This prototype was developed in a process using a framework of agent-based assistants, called AgentAP. It is applicable on distributed manufacturing data and had been implemented on the agent platform JADE. The module Program Assistant, one of these prototype modules, which is responsible for management, bidirectional transfer, and monitoring change of NC programs, is also discussed

Autonomous water-cleaning machine using solar energy in shrimp ponds: Research article

Limited water exchange shrimp culture technology is commonly used today in many shrimp farms in Vietnam to reduce water usage, input of diseases and discharge of nutrient-rich effluents into environment as well as to increase the production per unit area. However, a remaining problem in this technology is that the water quality in shrimp ponds will be reduced due to limitation of water exchange for a long period. The accumulation of inorganic components such as waste feed, bacterial deposits or other biological debris at the pond bottom will lead to low dissolved oxygen, high ammonia-nitrogen level, high fecal coliform bacteria and high turbidity which cause a severe degradation of water quality and detriment to shrimp growth and survival. To solve this remaining problem, an autonomous water-cleaning machine for shrimp ponds was designed to control the waste accumulation in the pond. This is an effective solution to replace manual cleaning methods for water quality management in shrimp farming in the coastal area of the Mekong delta of Vietnam. Especially, this technique can be used for biosecure shrimp production systems according to GMP standards to meet the objectives for sustainable development of shrimp aquaculture in Vietnam.Kỹ thuật nuôi tôm không thay nước đang được sử dụng rộng rãi ở các trại nuôi tôm Việt Nam vì giúp giảm lượng nước sử dụng, hạn chế thải nước vào môi trường và giúp tăng diện tích nuôi trồng tôm.

Effect of Coating Thickness on Fatigue Behavior of AISI 1045 Steel with HVOF Thermal Spray and Hard Chrome Electroplating

The effects of coating thickness on the fatigue lives of AISI 1045 steel shaft-bending specimens with WC-10%Co-4%Cr high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) coatings and hard chrome electroplated coatings under cyclic loading conditions are investigated. Residual stress distributions of the HVOF-coated layer and the hard chrome-plated layer were measured. During cyclic fatigue testing, cracks are initiated near the interface between the HVOF coating and the steel substrate and propagate through the substrate to cause final fracture based on experimental results. For the specimens with hard chrome-plated coatings, the fatigue crack is initiated near the top of the coating, propagates through the coating, and then grows in the thickness direction of the steel substrate to cause final fracture. As the coating thickness of the HVOF-coated specimens increases, the fatigue strength of the specimens increases, which can be attributed to the fact that the magnitude of the compressive residual stress near the interface between the substrates and the HVOF coatings is higher when the coating thickness gets higher. As for the hard chrome-plated specimens, the fatigue strength is deteriorated when the coating thickness is increased. The microcrack density in the hard chrome coatings increases with the coating thickness and, therefore, may result in the decreased fatigue strength

Ultrasonic spot welds of gas diffusion layer to proton exchange membrane of fuel cells

    No full text
Ultrasonic spot welding of gas diffusion layer to proton exchange membrane of fuel cells is investigated under various processing parameters. Key parameters are found to be the welding time and the pressure. The optimum welding time and the peak pressure are 0.25 s and 2.75 MPa, respectively. The holding time has no significant effect on the bonding strength of the welds and the holding time 0.2 s seems to be a reasonable selection. Mechanical interlocking is found to be the major contributing factor of the ultrasonic bonding. Ultrasonic weld of the carbon paper and the proton exchange membrane for membrane exchange assemblies of fuel cells is demonstrated as a viable technology to replace hot-pressing, which may be time consuming and energy inefficient
